An E-Mail Conversation with Mark Cuban
I recently sent an e-mail to Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, with the hope that he would find some humor in my ramblings.
Much to my pleasure, he sent me a brief and positive reply. So, I decided to share the exchange with all zero of my readers.FROM: Brad

SUBJECT: How the Mavs lost a fan last night
This may very well end up being filed under the category 'lamest email of the day/week' but I told my wife I would email you about this and I don't think she believed me. (Note, I was going to say lamest of the year but I suspect that you receive some pretty lame email from folks.)
Anyway, I just thought you would like to know that you and the Mavs earned the top spot on my wife's "dead to me" list last night. "How?" you ask. Well, you see she is totally addicted to the t.v. show Veronica Mars (okay, I admit that I am addicted too.) and last night's Mavs game against Seattle pre-empted this week's episode. So, we had to stay up to watch it at 11:30. Of course it was Tivo'd (how do you spell Tivo in the past tense anyway?) but we already had to wait an extra 3.5 hours and we were not about to wait until the next day.
Of course, I was asked if the Mavs-Seattle game was at least important enough to justify preempting her show and I tried to leverage possible home-court advantage against Miami in the finals as an excuse for the game's relevance. But I don't think she was buying that.
And thus as we enter the playoffs you and your team are suddenly persona non grata as far as my wife is concerned. I'm not quite sure how long she will hold the grudge. I suspect it will be relatively short lived if Dirk is as successful in the playoffs as I think he is going to be.
But, I think you are lucky she does not have the ear of David Stern or you might be dealing with a very unusual and heavy fine from the league today. haha.

P.S. - While I'm airing my wife's issues to you, I should go ahead and mention that she's also a little bummed that the Mavs have traded Laettner away twice. Apparently, she thinks he is cute. So, in the off season if you could just pick up Laettner or maybe Szczerbiak (she likes him too) that might get her to watch more games with me. ha!
P.P.S. - Okay, I take it back. This may be the lamest email you receive this year. But that's only because Sam Smith and Peter Vescey wont take the time to email you.

Funniest email in a long time !
Tell her I like veronica mars too !
So, you may be asking yourself, "Self, what is the point of this post on HomeTexas.org?" The only answer I have for Mr. Negative Self is that while I strongly believe in this site's .Principle #6 (I Know That I'm Not Cool) that does not prevent me from thinking that I am sometimes a little bit funny. In fact, I crack myself up all the time. Sometimes, other people think I'm funny too. And in this case, Mr. Cuban agreed. Yea me!
